Defender v0.2.0 - Art direction & QoL updates to prototype
Defender Pre-Alpha » Devlog
This update brings a major facelift to the prototype, with a new outline shader and more vivid colours, as well as some quality of life improvements including some basic settings options, easier switching between mouse and joystick and a control remapper.
Barring any hotfixes, this should be the last "pointless" update; expect the next major update to include gameplay beyond flying and stomping on defenceless AI.
Changes:
- Updated art style to more closely reflect vision
- Added Audio and Graphics settings menus
- Added control remapper for rebinding of controls in-game
- Added bounce to player collisions, reducing the amount of situations the player ship may get stuck. Boing!
- Added subtle speed indicator lines to the windows of the cockpit
- Added FPS counter (disabled by default - check controls list)
- Added Reset hotkey (resets all settings -graphics excluded- and restarts the game)
- Modified mouse & keyboard control defaults to place roll on A & D and yaw on Mouse X
- Modified the world scale to reduce floating point errors. The ensmolening is complete!
- Modified default mouse bounds based on player feedback
- Removed yaw on controller left thumbstick
- Reduced default Voice volume (pipe down monty!)
- Fixed missiles hitting player on launch
- Fixed HUD scaling between resolutions
Known Issues:
- Cannot remap mouse axes in control remapper
- Settings menu supports mouse input only
- HOTAS throttle is non-functional due to digital speed controls
- No damage to player (can cause the player to get stuck on environment meshes)
- Visible shadow/mesh jitter when the player moves too far from spawn (floating point inaccuracy)
- AI ships often get stuck on environment meshes
- AI radio calls will sometimes repeat
- There aint nothin' to do
v0.2.0a (Hotfix)
- Fixed control binds not saving
